Around two-thirds of families rely on schools to provide lunch for their children, reports Port Washington, N.Y.-based researcher The NPD Group. Pending federal legislation could help school administrators answer the call for more-healthful student meals. But some healthy changes already are taking place on school grounds. Here, the top school-supplied foods and beverages, based on the percentage of 6- to 12-year-olds who consumed them, according to NPD’s “Lunchtime Mealscape” study.
