Crustacean Restaurant Owners to Open Gourmet Bistro and Healthy QSR

The An family's new restaurants will open this winter at South Coast Plaza and in Santa Monica

-- Restaurants & Institutions, November 3, 2009

[PRESS RELEASE] LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After decades of success with their fine-dining establishments Crustacean Restaurant in Beverly Hills and San Francisco and their original location Thanh Long in San Francisco, House of An is excited to announce today the expansion of their restaurant group by opening two new restaurant concepts. AnQi will be a gourmet bistro concept opening in Costa Mesa, and Tiato will be a healthy quick-service restaurant concept in Santa Monica, each catering to an increasingly diverse clientele that offer modern variations on Crustacean’s popular Vietnamese-fusion fare. Opening in winter 2009, AnQi will be adjacent to Bloomingdale’s department store in South Coast Plaza, located at 3333 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, while Tiato will be inside the MTV Networks building, located at 2600 Colorado Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90404.

“House of An is looking forward to diversifying and enriching our restaurant experience. With the opening of our two latest concepts, we are offering our fine cuisine to a wider array of customers. We can’t wait for both our new customers, as well as our old friends, to taste what’s new,” says House of An CEO Elizabeth An.

These highly anticipated establishments will incorporate Crustacean’s Executive Chef Helene An’s personal “Yin and Yang” philosophy, which centers around a balance of using the freshest ingredients that are deliciously rich in heart-healthy herbs and antioxidants with a modern twist.

AnQi will offer a fashionable, inviting bistro-style atmosphere that will highlight the An family’s legendary fine food in a more casual environment. As the An family continues to stay on the forefront of what’s next, AnQi will feature a runway inside the dining room, perfect for fun collaborations with Bloomingdale's, fashion shows and special events. This fusion of food and fashion will take the dining experience to new heights, complementing the restaurant’s unique setting within this stylish retail destination. Showcasing a menu that will incorporate the An’s celebrated family recipes while re-imagining the current notions of fusion cuisine, Helene An will ignite each dish with healthy and flavorful herbs and spices.

Tiato, a market café, will offer an extensive breakfast and lunch menu in a more-casual, fast-paced setting than the AnQi experience, featuring "fresh bites on-the-go." This spot will offer traditional American fare with a delectable Asian twist. The menu will provide food enthusiasts a vast array of delectable culinary creations, offering familiar breakfast items such as pancakes, French toast, and omelets - all with Helene’s special flair, of course. Instead of ordering traditional pancakes with strawberries, try Helene's pancakes with persimmon. Instead of ordering Eggs Benedict, try Helene's eggs on bao. The lunch menu will primarily focus on flavorful, healthy items such as a diverse array of crisp salads, sandwiches, and appetizing entrees such as Vegetarian Crepe Ratatouille and Wok Stir Fry, as well as the AN’s Famous Secret Kitchen Garlic Noodles. To accommodate a fast paced lifestyle, fresh take out options will also be available, making for a perfect “An the Go” dining experience. Tiato also offers an outdoor event space for guests to utilize House of An’s catering division, An Catering, for personalized events.
