IFMA’s 2008 Silver Plate Society Named

The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association’s Silver Plate winners for 2008 have been named. Silver Plate awards are one of the industry’s oldest honors, given annually for 54 years to recognize operational excellence and industry achievement.

The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association’s Silver Plate winners for 2008 have been named. Silver Plate awards are one of the industry’s oldest honors, given annually for 54 years to recognize operational excellence and industry achievement. Formal inauguration into the Gold and Silver Plate Society will take place at a black-tie celebration on Monday, May 19, during the National Restaurant Association Restaurant Hotel-Motel Show.

There are nine categories of winners, representing the full spectrum of industry segments. From the following Silver Plate winners, one will take home the coveted Gold Plate, with the selection being announced at the banquet.

This year’s Silver Plate winners are:

Patricia Farris, Director of School Foodservices, Archdiocese of New Orleans in the Elementary and Secondary Schools categoryPhil Friedman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, McAlister’s Deli in the Full-Service Chain categoryAmy Greenberg, Senior Vice President, Citi, in the Business & Industry categorySteven Hammell, Dining Services Program Manager, United States Navy, Southwestern Region, for Specialty FoodservicesShawn LaPean, Cal Dining Director, University of California, Berkeley for Colleges and UniversitiesRichard Marriott, Chairman of the Board, Host Hotels & Resorts for Hotels & LodgingMary Angela Miller, Administrative Director Nutrition Services, Ohio State University Medical Center for HealthcareRoland Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Arby’s Restaurant Group in the Chain Fast-Service categoryCharlie Trotter, Owner/Operator, Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago

Judging was held in Chicago, with the selections made by a panel that included last year’s Silver and Gold Plate winners as well as editors from trade publications.
