The State Room in East Lansing, Mich., Wins Wine Spectator Awards

(PRESS RELEASE) East Lansing, Mich.: The State Room Restaurant recently received both a 2009 Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence and a 2009 Sante Restaurant Wine Hospitality Award in recognition of its outstanding wine lists, wine service and hospitality.
“The State Room Restaurant is truly a gem for mid-Michigan wine connoisseurs and novices alike,” said Jonathan Trasky, general manager for The State Room Restaurant. “We believe there is no better complement to our fine dining experience than a good glass of wine at a reasonable price.”
The Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence gives special recognition to restaurants with wine lists that display either vintage depth with vertical offerings of several top producers from major regions or excellent breadth spread over several winegrowing regions. The State Room was recognized not only for its wine list quality, but its inexpensive wine pricing and was one of only 10 restaurants in Michigan to receive the Best of Award of Excellence. This is the fourth year the restaurant has received this award and the seventh year of recognition by the publication.
Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards program recognizes restaurants with wine lists that offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The award program is sponsored by Wine Spectator magazine, which features wine ratings, tasting reports and more for wine aficionados and restaurateurs.
As one of five regional winners in the Hotel/Resort Fine Dining category, The State Room was also the only restaurant to receive any 2009 Sante Restaurant Award in Michigan. This year marks The State Room Restaurant’s fifth Sante Restaurant Award win.
The Sante Restaurant Awards are based on a variety of criteria and winners represent a broad spectrum of restaurant- and hospitality-industry professionals with a common passion for their work and a commitment to excellence. The award program is sponsored by Sante magazine, which features information on food, wine and spirits management for restaurant professionals.
The State Room is located at Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, which is a unit of the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services.
