To bring foodies—both students and faculty—together on the campus of the University of Richmond (Va.), Cynthia R. Stearns, assistant director of marketing and special programs for University of Richmond Dining Services (Ivy '92) created Spider in the Kitchen, a cooking-class series named after the school's mascot. The sessions, which take place a few times a year, feature a cooking demonstration, a meal and giveaways such as aprons and tickets to campus sports events. “Sharing our wealth of knowledge rekindles excitement for us,” Stearns says.
