Jack in the Box Debuts Southwest Chicken Bowl
-- Restaurants & Institutions, November 6, 2009
(PRESS RELEASE) San Diego: With Thanksgiving just around the corner, dinner plates across America will soon be piled high with turkey, potatoes and grandma’s green-bean casserole. But diners who have a hankering now for a zestier blend of protein, carbohydrates and veggies are invited to try the new Southwest Chicken Bowl at Jack in the Box® restaurants, available beginning Monday, Nov. 9, for a limited time.
The new Southwest Chicken Bowl is made with fajita-seasoned chicken, rice, grilled onions and peppers, and topped with shredded cheddar cheese and a tangy cilantro lime sauce.
"Our Teriyaki Bowls have been popular alternatives to our burgers and chicken sandwiches," said Tammy Bailey, division vice president of menu marketing and promotions for Jack in the Box Inc. "With the addition of the Southwest Chicken Bowl, we’re spicing up our line of rice bowls with a flavorful combination of south-of-the-border ingredients that delivers a filling meal at a great value."
Jack in the Box will offer the Southwest Chicken Bowl for the suggested price of $4.29, plus tax, at participating restaurants.

The bowl isn't bad, but could definitely be better. I'm partial to Chipotle's Burrito Bowls myself, and a combination similar to Chipotle's 'Rice, Pinto/Black Beans, Chicken, medium salsa, sour cream, and cheese' would be fantastic. For me, the onions, and the lack of chicken, are what will keep me away from this bowl. The Terryaki Bowl is much better.

I found this new item to be very unapealing very dry and very little chicken and veggies on a bed of very dry rice. I think Jack could do better than that.
