2003 Ivy Awards

By Patricia Dailey, Editor-in-Chief -- Restaurants & Institutions, 5/15/2003

More than 874,000 restaurant and foodservice operations are open for business across America, each one endeavoring in its own way to reach a level of success and accomplishment, indeed, even of excellence.

Menus prepared with creativity, skill and finesse, service delivered with attentiveness and small, quiet flourishes, and surroundings that very nearly wrap customers in a cloak of comfort are aims and aspirations shared by many in the industry.

For Ivy Award winners, reaching for such greatness is a way of life, a passion, even an art. Through single-minded determination, uncompromising standards and steely will, the 247 foodservice operations that are part of the Ivy Society come remarkably close to perfection, setting new standards and gathering accolades of respect and admiration from their industry peers.

This year, those vaunted ranks, the echelons of Ivy achievement, grow by six. Restaurants and Institutions is proud to welcome Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Levy Restaurants Sports & Entertainment Group, Nobu, Princeton University, Smith & Wollensky and Tru, and is honored to salute these standard-bearers for bringing new luster and vigor to Ivy and the entire industry.

A happy round of applause is called for, a toast to these glittering jewels for what they have achieved and for the promise of continued greatness they hold for all of foodservice.
