R&I Awards & Events

R&I magazine

Our premier event, held annually during the National Restaurant Association Show, honors the best of the best—those restaurants and foodservice operations that are the industry’s standard bearers of excellence.

Ivy Awards are given annually to foodservice operations that demonstrate the highest standards of excellence in food, service and overall hospitality. Honorees are selected from across industry segments, including fine dining, hotels and noncommercial operations.

These awards are unique because winners are selected by industry peers. Each year since 1971, previous award winners have been asked to nominate a new slate of exemplary restaurants, hotels and institutions to join the Ivy Society. After nominations are collected, the ballot appears in Restaurants & Institutions, where the magazine’s readership of 140,000 casts votes for their choices. To date, more than 300 operations have won this prestigious award.

Consumers’ Choice in Chains is a red-carpet award recognizing those restaurant chains that consumers rate as the best in such factors as food quality, service, value and convenience. On August 13, the 2007 winners were announced at a ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay Resort.

Based on the results of our national consumer-based research study, these chains are rated on eight key attributes: food quality, service, convenience, cleanliness, value, atmosphere, menu variety and reputation. These ratings determine the top three winners in more than 15 different chain categories. Representatives from all winning chains are invited to attend R&I’s Consumers’ Choice in Chains celebration.
