Oregon County Requires Calories on Menus
Diners in Multnomah County, Ore., (home to Portland) may soon learn more than they ever wanted to know about their morning pastry, QSR lunch or spaghetti Alfredo dinner. The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 Thursday to require big chain restaurants and coffee shops to list calorie counts on menus and ordering boards starting next year. Chick-fil-A Founder Punishes Preteen Vandals
The founder of Chick-fil-A restaurants said preteen vandals in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., have agreed to a punishment that will keep the matter out of courts. S. Truett Cathy, 87, met with three girls--two of them 11, the other 12--after the girls caused $30,000 in damages to a private residence known as the Chick-fil-A Lodge. Cafe Risque was too risque for residents of Lavonia, Ga. So the city spent nearly $1 million to purchase the topless restaurant and shut it down.
