Bruegger's Makes Plans to Challenge Einstein Noah
Bruegger's, a Vermont-based bagelry and bakery-cafe, is taking on Einstein Noah in its own backyard. Bruegger's already has five franchised stores in the Denver area and is shooting for another 20 or so within the next five years, said Chris Cheek, vice president of franchise development for the chain. When respondents who frequent fast-food restaurants were asked if they have eaten at a fast-food restaurant more or less often in the last year than in the past, 18% reported “more often,” 58% reported “about the same,” and 24% reported “less often.”

McDonald's Slimming Down Dollar Menu
McDonald's Corp. is testing changes to its popular $1 double cheeseburger as it prepares to change its Dollar Menu by next year. Some restaurants are selling it with one slice of cheese instead of two, and billing it as a "double hamburger with cheese." Others are offering a double hamburger without cheese.
